Nicknamed “Yu-Gi-Oh! Season Zero” by fans, the anime was produced by Toei Animation in 1998 and freely adapts the first 59 chapters of the manga, adding original events and characters that are not present in it. In the story Yugi Muto, a shy boy who loves all kinds of games, one day solves an ancient puzzle known as the Millennium Puzzle, causing his body to host the spirit of an ancient pharaoh.
